Out of School Care
Maungawhau School provides before school, after school and school holiday programmes to cater for working families.
Our Aim
Children have the right to relax and enjoy play out of school hours. We aim to provide a safe, secure, stimulating environment, which is significantly enhanced by competent staff providing a range of appropriate play and relaxation opportunities.
The children and their interests are the centre of this process. We aim to empower the children, encourage them to make decisions and choices that will further their own development and benefit the rest of the children and staff as a team.
The Out of School Care (OSC) programme is operated by the school. Any queries or concerns should be raised, in the first instance, with either the Programme Director, Martin Rodwell Ph 021 800 047 or the Administration Director, Sue Lovelock Ph 021 950 489 as they are responsible for the day to day running of the programme. Wendy Hunt, School Executive Officer is the Senior Manager with overall responsibility for the programme and can be contact through the school office.
You can contact the OSC staff between 1.30 - 6.00pm daily by phoning the school telephone number (638 8829) and entering extension 119 when prompted.
What happens at OSC?
Mornings - 7.30am - 8.30am
Children are supervised in the OSC room, facilities are available for children to prepare themselves a breakfast of toast and a cup of Milo.

Soccer, touch and other outdoor sports on the field
Adventure play on the senior and junior playgrounds
Arts and crafts in the OSC room
Cooking in either the hall kitchen or OSC room
Swimming (summer months only)

Movies (wet days only)
These activities are varied throughout the week and we aim to keep the children active and having fun as much as possible.
Please speak to staff if you wish your child to complete homework at any time during the programme.
Holiday Programme
We offer care during school holidays. A brochure is produced prior to each holiday period detailing dates the programme is offered and activities planned for each day.
The holiday programme is made up of days with activities within the school grounds, trips to various venues and visitors to the school. Bookings are essential on the days that trips are offered.
Each day is themed and related to the activities offered eg. Ten Pin Bowling, Wild Wheels and Creative Cooking
