John McGowan Acting Principal
Thank you for making me welcome in my appointment as Acting Principal. Maungawhau School is blessed with a wonderful location and superb grounds, enthusiastic and talented people and I am looking forward to being part of the journey of continuous improvements. After all, we live in an age where leading and managing change to improve outcomes has never been so important.
Olwen Blain Deputy Principal
I have responsibility for the Middle School (Waipuna), Curriculum and Resourcing. I particularly enjoy working with younger children especially in reading, writing and discovery topics. I love to see the children becoming increasingly independent and involved in the learning process. The goal of our team is to provide a happy, secure, inspiring learning environment which will support the children in becoming the best they can be.
Marilyn Schroeder Acting Associate Principal and SENCO Year 1 to 3 (Special Education Needs Coordinator)
I thoroughly enjoy my varied role at Maungawhau School. Along with being Acting Associate Principal for this term, my responsibilities include team leader of the Junior School (Whanake Team) and Maths Lead Teacher. At Maungawhau School it is our desire to provide a friendly, safe and stimulating environment for your children to learn. To do this well requires good communication between home and school. Part Time Teachers and Specialist Staff
Maungawhau has part-time teachers that provide release cover throughout the school. This enables teachers to plan and complete assessments with minimal class disruption. The students also benefit from a Sports Specialist as well as an ESOL teacher.
Maungawhau’s Support Staff play an important role in ensuring the smooth, daily running of the school. This includes those staff working in the School Office, the Discovery Centre Team, Student Learning Support, Property Team and Out of School Care.
