Maungawhau School Fair
Our Fair has been postponed again due to Covid-19, so the new date planned is Saturday 19th March 2022
We are disappointed to advise that the fair will not be able to proceed on Saturday 6th November 2021. We would need to be at Alert Level 1 for the event to go ahead. We know this is disappointing to not have a fair for two consecutive years due to COVID-19, so rather than cancel, the committee has decided to postpone the event until
Saturday 19th March 2022.
More information will be sent later in the year and the fair team will liaise directly with stall holder leads.
Whilst the fair cannot proceed this year we will still be running the Silent Auction component of the fair as an online event. This will occur at the start of November and a separate email will be circulated with the details. A reminder also to keep any eye on the school Facebook Page as details of auction lots will also be profiled there.
If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact Jo Turner on [email protected]
New countdown for our school fair....
Our annual fair is a proud Maungawhau School tradition. It is a highlight of the local communities calendar, attracting thousands of attendees. 2021 will be the 75th School Fair.
A fantastic day out for the whole family, the fair has something for every age and interest – from gourmet snacks to the classic sausage sizzle and hot chips, games and bouncy castles to entertain the kids, student performances and amazing bargains on quality second-hand clothing, books, homeware, toys and much more!
All proceeds from the Fair will go towards learning resources and school improvements for Maungawhau School students.
Whilst one of the outcomes of the day is on fundraising for the school, we are also very focused on supporting the community and the environment. As such we do not discount any products during the day. Any unsold goods are donated to a variety of charities and schools at the conclusion of the fair. We also have one class (supported by their classroom teacher and parents) who take responsibility for rubbish & recycling on the day of the fair to ensure all compostable and recyclable waste is separated from landfill. This initiative introduced a few years ago has seen landfill waste reduced significantly.

Class Stall Allocations
Every classroom is allocated a stall for our school fair. It is then run by 1-2 parents of that class as stallholders. Every family in that class supports the stallholder with preparation in the lead up to the fair as well in running the stall on fair day. It is up to our parents to host the fair for our community.
